The criteria used in the evaluation of your credentials is credit specific.

That is, every item of your credentials is assessed and compared with
a generally accepted standard of excellence and of quantity of assignments
in university level courses. A credit is awarded only when the combination
of skills, knowledge, and applications are demonstrated over a period of time
in a given activity commensurate with university level expectations.

ITEMS CONSIDERED FOR EVALUATION

The following items of evaluation are substantial but not exhaustive. Please
add all additional information that you would like to have evaluated for
credit. Please provide when available verification through transcripts,
copies of certificates, advertising, letters, and all other relevant
documentation. Please include all personal recognition, achievements,
and honors, and participation in civic, social, political and military activities.

Transfer Credit

All course credit from universities, colleges, Bible schools and institutes,
and seminaries with C or higher grades.

Other Educational Experiences:

 Seminars, workshops, lectureships, professional education

 For the religious seminars, workshops, lectureships, please provide the overall theme of each, the location of each, the dates of each, and your level of participation.

 For professional education, please provide the name of your professional employment at the time, your professional duties and responsibilities at the time of the professional education, specific themes/titles of your professional education, the dates and locations.

How long did you work in each of your professional employments?

What was your last rank or position in each of your professional employments?

Ministerial Experience:

Preaching

    Topical Preaching:

          Credit is awarded for preaching on a topic four or more times within a year.

                For example, suppose you preach on Baptism 12 times during a year.     
                   The TUA will award you 3 credits for that particular series of topical
                   sermons, one credit for every four sermons.  Additional sermon
                   on the same topic result in additional credits awarded.  One credit is
                   awarded for every 4 topical sermons  

    Expository Preaching

           Credit is awarded for preaching directly from the scripture of a specific

          For example, suppose you preached through the Book of Matthew for six                     months of the year.  The TUA will award you 6 credits for the expository                          sermons you preached from a specific book of the Bible. Additional expository                  sermons from the specific book of the Bible result in additional credits awarded.                       One credit is awarded for every 4 expository sermons  

Please send only the following information about the sermons:

1. the topic or book of the Bible;

2. the year the sermons were preached;

3. the number of sermons preached per topic/per book of the Bible for the year.

Initially, please send only your topical and expository selections for two complete                                   years.                                 

Teaching

Topical Teaching:

Credit is awarded for teaching on a topic four or more times within a year.

    For example, suppose you taught on Baptism 12 times during a year. The                                 TUA will award you 3 credits for that particular series of topical lessons,                                 one credit for every four lessons.  Additional lessons on the same topic                        result in additional credits awarded.  One credit is awarded for every 4 topical        lessons.

    Often, booklets are used in the class for Bible study. Many of these booklets                             have 12 or 13 lessons to complete a quarter of a year’s study. Studying                               through a booklet of this number of lessons is awarded 3 credits. However, it                     is not necessary that a booklet be used. Any legitimate guide, including a                        guide developed by you, is acceptable. The only stipulation is that the                            booklet is focused one overall theme for the course.

    Expository teaching

           Credit is awarded for teaching directly from the scripture of a specific                 book of  the Bible, one credit for every four expository lessons taken from a specific             book of the Bible.                                                                                                                                                                 For example, suppose you taught through the Book of Matthew for six                                     months of the year.  The TUA will award you 6 credits for the expository                               lessons you taught from a specific book of the Bible. Additional expository                          lessons from the specific book of the Bible result in additional credits awarded.                          One credit is awarded for every 4 expository lessons  

 Please send only the following information about the lessons:

2. the year the lessons were taught;

3. the number of lessons taught per topic/per book of the Bible for the year.

Books and Other Literature You Have Read

1. Please list each book, journal, article by title;

2 please give the name(s) of the author(s) of each book and other literature;

3. please give the approximate year in which the book and other literature were read;

4. please give the approximate number of pages of the book and other literature read;

What study resources do you have available for your sermon and lesson research? Please list them individually by title of monograph or by title of reference set? What journal/magazines do you read regularly?

    Teaching in Academic Environments (Schools of Preaching; Bible Institutes; Colleges, Universities, and other post secondary educational activities)
            (Courses taught - graduate/undergraduate - date, months in each
            course taught; number of times the course(s) were taught; when
            available, list the textbooks required and a copy of the syllabi.)

     Counseling
            (list counseling subjects, frequency)

     Hospital Visitation and/or Hospital Ministry

     Prison Visitation and/or Prison Ministry

     Evangelism Preaching
            (Gospel meetings)

    Personal Evangelism

     Literature Read
            (Books, articles; when available, include author, title, number
            of pages, publisher, date of  publication, date reading completed)

     Campaigns
            (your responsibilities, dates, locations)

     Mission Activities
            (in US and abroad, your responsibilities, dates, locations)

     Weddings
            (frequency per year)

     Funerals
            (frequency per year)

     Media
            (TV, radio, newspapers, books and articles written, lectureship
            speaker/teacher)
 

FOR THE  BACHELOR'S  DEGREE please provide information
for at least the past 4 years.

You may provide more years for additional significant learning and
ministerial experiences with your credentials.

Undergraduate Division         Return To Top
 

The following undergraduate degrees are available through the
Regents Validation Degree Program:

Bachelor's of Arts            120 credits

Bachelor's of Ministry      120 credits

To qualify for your  undergraduate degree through the Regents
Validation Degree Program, you will submit educational, ministerial,
and professional experiences to be evaluated for educational credit.
If the evaluation of your credentials amounts to the required credits
above for the specific degree(s) of your interest, you will be awarded
your undergraduate degree(s) upon completion of the enrollment
procedures and full remittance of tuition and fee.

If you have 30 general education credits from prior college education
or have experience that evaluates to 30 general education credits, you
may choose either the Bachelor of Arts or the Bachelor of Ministry
degree.

If you do not have 30 general education credits from prior college
education and do not have secular experience that evaluates to 30
general education credits, you qualify for the Bachelor of Ministry
degree.

MAJOR FIELDS CONFERRED

The content of your credentials and the results of the evaluation
determine your choice of one or more major fields for your degree.

The following major fields result most often from the evaluation of
credentials (these are listed alphabetically, not in order of frequency):

Biblical Studies (New Testament, Old Testament)
Church Administration and Management
Church Growth
Church History
Counseling Psychology (Christian Counseling)
Family and Church  Life
Evangelism
Homiletics and Preaching
Ministry
Missions
Religious Education
Youth Ministry

Although these major fields are most frequently conferred, each major
field is based on the evaluation of the student's credentials and may
qualify the student for a major field not listed above. The student should
always request an evaluation for a major field for his particular interest.

The following graduate degrees are available through the
Regents Validation Degree Program:

Master of Arts                          36 credits beyond the  bachelor's degree
                                                and one year of full time ministry

Master of Ministry                    36 credits beyond the bachelor's degree
                                                and one year of full time ministry

Master of Religious Education   36 credits beyond the bachelor degree
                                                and one year of full time ministry

Master Divinity                         90 credits beyond the bachelor's degree
                                                and one year of full time ministry

Doctor of Ministry                    36 credits beyond the master's
                                                and one year of full time ministry

Doctor of Philosophy                36 credits beyond the master's
                                                and a dissertation/major project

Doctor of Religious Education   36 credits beyond the master's
                                                and one year of full time ministry

To qualify for your  graduate(s) degree through the Regents Validation
Degree Program, you will submit educational, ministerial, and
professional experiences to be evaluated for educational credit.  If the
evaluation of your credentials amounts to the required credits above
for the specific degree(s) of your interest, you will be awarded your
graduate degree(s) upon completion of the enrollment procedures
and full remittance of tuition and fee.

Students who have or who qualify for and complete an undergraduate
Bachelor of Arts degree before enrolling for the master's degree may
choose either the Master of Arts or the Master of Ministry.

Any master's degree listed above is qualification for enrolling in any of the Regents
Validation Degree Doctorate Programs.

MAJOR FIELDS CONFERRED

The content of your credentials and the results of the evaluation
determine your choice of one or more major fields for your degree.

The following major fields result most often from the evaluation of
credentials (these are listed alphabetically, not in order of frequency):
