Description of Course

 

The course takes the student through beginning Greek study in which the student learns all Greek grammatical forms presented, learns appropriate level vocabularies, and performs textbook translations. The student will also do exegetical studies of selected texts directly from the NT Greek at the level of his/her progress. The student will be introduced to lexical and textual aids and problematic research areas.

1.Thorough knowledge of all grammatical forms

            Nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc.

            Parsing nomenclature

2.Thorough knowledge and understanding of syntax

3.Translation skills appropriate to course level

4. Vocabulary 

5. Exegesis of actual NT texts to the appropriate level

6. Familiarity with and use of lexical aids and problematic research areas.

 Course Study Guide

 

First month:

 

            Lessons 1 – 20

 

Student will demonstrate for each lesson understanding and competency in following:

 

                        Vocabularies

                        Grammar

                        Translation

 

Each week a different selection from the New Testament scripture will be selected for the purposes of:

 

Identifying the grammatical forms and relationships at the level of that week’s progress;

 

Identifying the exegetical problems and issues of the text at the level of that week’s progress;

           

Each week the student and professor will engage in a short textual discovery period in which alternate translations are possible.

           

An examination at the close of each month will provide opportunity for the student to demonstrate achievement of course goals to that time.

           

 

Second month:

 

            Lessons 21 – 40

 

Student will demonstrate for each lesson understanding and competency in following:

 

                        Vocabularies

                        Grammar

                        Translation

 

Each week a different selection from the New Testament scripture will be selected for the purposes of:

 

Identifying the grammatical forms and relationships at the level of that week’s progress;

 

Identifying the exegetical problems and issues of the text at the level of that week’s progress;
