THREE METHODS FOR COMPLETING YOUR DEGREES
The Theological University of America offers you the choice of three
methods of completing your degrees:
1. Regents Validation Degree Program
2. Experiential Learning Degree Program
3. Traditional Non-Residence Degree Program
THE REGENTS VALIDATION DEGREE PROGRAM
Through the Regents Validation Degree Program, your Theological
University of America degrees are awarded to you on the basis of
what you have already accomplished. No additional courses or
assignments are required. You submit your prior educational and
ministerial/professional experiences for evaluation for credit.
If your credentials (prior education and ministerial/professional
experiences) evaluate to the following credits, you have earned the
designated degrees without additional requirements:
CREDITS DESIGNATED DEGREE
120 credits - Bachelor's degree
36 credits beyond the Bachelor's degree - Master of Arts degree
- Master of Ministry degree
90 credits beyond the Bachelor's degree - Master of Divinity
48 credits beyond the Master's Degree - Doctorate degree
Your credentials for the Validation program should include not only
religious education and experiences directly related to ministry
or
church activities, but also your business and professional and
military
experiences and education. Your business, professional, and military
experiences and education add a distinct breadth to your preparation
and relevance for serving and ministering to men, women, and families
who are in business, the professions, the military or dependent on
someone who is in them that religious study in the classroom cannot
provide you. You are entitled to full credit for your business,
professional, and military experiences.
If you are a graduate of a school of preaching or Bible institute, you
have earned your Bachelor's degree upon the basis of your transcript
without further requirements. If you have completed a post graduate
program at a school of preaching or Bible institute and have a minimum
of six months field experience, you have earned your Master's degree.
THE EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING DEGREE PROGRAM
If you do not have enough evaluated credits for your degree through
the Regents Validation Degree Program, you may complete those
credits through the activities of your current ministry. You will be
assigned a major professor who will work with you in determining
your major field and courses to be completed. All courses will be
assignments related to activities of your ministry. You may earn your
Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate degrees through the Experiential
Learning Degree Program.
Each course is three months. You may take a maximum of 3 courses
concurrently.
THE TRADITIONAL NON-RESIDENCE DEGREE PROGRAM
This program is for the student who wants to complete a traditional
degree program with set courses and requirements.
For the Bachelor's degree, the student may receive for transfer
credit
and experience up to 90 credits. In the Traditional Non-Residence
Degree Program at the Bachelor's level only 30 credits may be granted
for experience. In the Master's and Doctorate programs, the student
may receive for transfer credit and experience up to 15 credits each
degree. In the Master's and Doctorate levels only 6 credits may be
granted for experience. All remaining credits will be completed
through course work.
Each course is 3 months. You may take a maximum of 3 courses
concurrently.
